Curriculum
Students at ACADEME of the OAKS experience a challenging curriculum in the sciences, mathematics, and humanities, balanced with community service and the fine and practical arts.
Each day begins with the main lesson, which is essentially a ninety-minute academic seminar exploring a subject from the natural sciences, mathematics, earth sciences, history, or literature. Meeting daily for three or four weeks, the main lesson focuses intensively on one subject, including lecture and lesson, research and writing, discussion, and individual or group projects. After the main lesson, students attend classes in math, foreign language, English skills, social studies, music, practical and fine arts, and physical education. These continuing classes meet throughout the school year.
The curriculum chart details the main lesson topics a student will encounter during the four years of high school. The chart also outlines the continuing subjects in diverse disciplines.
