More Than a Class Schedule: Discover What You Love at Academe of the Oaks
What if choosing a high school also meant discovering interests you never knew you had?
At Academe of the Oaks, students have opportunities to go beyond a traditional class schedule and explore music, athletics, clubs, and hands-on activities that make high school a more engaging and personal experience.
Our Bee Club gives students the chance to learn about bees, pollination, ecology, and the role these small but important creatures play in our environment. It’s a great example of how learning at Academe can connect students with the natural world and turn curiosity into hands-on experience.
Students looking for something more active can explore fencing and archery, developing focus, coordination, discipline, and perseverance while learning skills that aren’t typically part of a traditional high school experience.
And for students who love music, Academe offers a range of ways to get involved, including orchestra, guitar, drumming, jazz, and choir. Whether a student already has musical experience or wants to discover a new interest, there is room to participate, practice, perform, and grow.
At Academe, students have the opportunity to be known by their teachers, participate in their community, and explore interests alongside their academic work. A student might spend part of the day studying mathematics or science and later be playing music, practicing fencing, working with bees, or participating in another club or activity.
High school is a time for discovery. Students shouldn’t have to define themselves as only an athlete, only an artist, or only an academic. They should have opportunities to try something unfamiliar, find something they enjoy, and discover abilities they didn’t know they had.
Combined with rigorous college-preparatory academics, hands-on learning, experienced teachers, athletics, music, international exchange, and a close-knit school community, Academe offers students a high school experience designed around more than simply completing a list of requirements.
