FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the EXTRA-CURRICULARS?
We offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, and you will be able to find something you like. For example, our athletics program is very comprehensive with soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and ultimate Frisbee. And there are also quite a number of clubs depending on the interest of our students. For example we offer robotics, fencing, film club, international club and the community service club. In addition to the clubs, you can also be a part of the Amnesty International Chapter, The Young Physicians Initiative, the Literary Magazine, the Global Nomads Group and more.
What are the students like?
The students at Academe are very welcoming to all new students. The Academe Ambassadors will help you with anything you need during your first weeks at the school.
The students are interested and eager to learn, and they celebrate the success of their classmates. They are also teenagers like you, and they have a lot of fun together. The students are tolerant, accepting, and inclusive. Each grade bonds into a family over the four years through trips, plays, and working together.
Is there financial aid?
Yes, we offer financial aid. Our financial aid is based on need only. Parents need to complete the financial aid application online through TADS.
When is the deadline to apply?
The deadline to apply is early February each year. See our Process Guide for exact dates.
Where do our students go to college?
Over 90% of our students are accepted to their first choice of colleges. We have students accepted to small liberal arts colleges, large state schools, and Ivy League Universities. Please see our college list for a detailed list of colleges to which our students have been accepted.
What are the steps to apply?
We recommend that you sign up for a Visiting Morning. During the Visiting Morning you will visit classes, and meet students and teachers.
Is there a STEAM program?
Yes. Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics are an integral part of our curriculum. Our science and math program is college preparatory, and throughout our experiential, project based curriculum, our students infuse their work with art.

Study Abroad
Sophomores may apply to participate in our international exchange program, which places accepted students with a family in another country for an extended period of time, typically two or three months. Students request a destination—such as Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Korea, Israel and Japan—and live with a student and his or her family from a Waldorf school there.
financial aid
At Academe, as at Waldorf schools around the world, working in the garden, taking care of the goats and chickens, and tending to the bees, students come to recognize themselves as partners in their physical environment.
“My wife and I have spent a lifetime in education and Academe has as its core philosophy what we deeply believe is essential for quality education: giving students ownership of their learning, allowing each classroom to be a place of discovery, insisting more on getting the question right than getting the answer right, providing encouragement and direction for the development of character and purpose.
